I was able to apply for Unemployment Insurance because I have an SCorp.  I applied as the employee of my SCorp and per my tax man, that’s how we do it.  Not as Independent Contractors.

Took me about 20 minutes to apply and got my first payments within about three weeks. Took a couple of weeks longer to get the debit card.

Still, pretty easy.

Greg Stanton - Pasadena

I applied for both programs and was approved for both.  I received my PPP direct deposit on Friday, May 1st.  It was approximately 2 weeks from the time I applied.  I also have received confirmation and approval for PUA, but no money has been received just yet.  I also received a small amount of grant funds.

Debbie Mitchell - Rocklin

I applied for PUA the day on April 28th and received the approval letter today. So, it took a week.

Gladys Morais - Cupertino

I should have qualified for at least $11K loan plus grants. The SBA came back to me through Wells Fargo with no grant and a loan for $1,147. Feels very insulting for the effort I put in just to get to this point.

PUA ran out of money according to Governor Newsom just as realtors signed up for it. Everything is broken. So sad for the most powerful country in the world.

I have no idea how my business will survive. Pretty sure you all feel the same way.

Stay safe and healthy,

Seth Backus - Thousand Oaks

Hi, I applied for the PAU as soon as it opened at 8:00am on Tuesday, 4/28. I did not have the benefit of your webinar at that time but I still was able to complete the application with only one minor mistake. On Friday, 5/1 I received notification to certify my benefits - which I did. As of today they have paid for three cycles through 4/18. The amounts are for $167/week plus the $600 from the federal government for the weeks after 3/28. I have not received the debit card yet but understand that it is on the way. I expect to receive it soon and the amounts paid will be already on it. I still need them to retroactively increase the base  EDD payments to $450/week but I'm grateful for how quickly they approved the application  after delaying it's process for so long.

Thanks so much for your continued communications and advice with regard tot he process. Unfortunately, several of my friends had applied under the original program (and did not have the benefit of your counsel) and are still trying to get everything worked out. I feel very fortunate to have some assistance during this time and especially to have the support of CAR.

Jennifer Locke - Del Mar

I received certification that I’m able to receive the PUA. However I did not answer “yes” on the  trade or union question. Completed the process before the 35 page document was available.  Will this affect the cares act for me getting the additional $600?

I am please to tell you that I obtained the PPP loan, a $1000 “advance” from the SBA, and was awarded the PUA!
I use a small, not very business oriented bank, First Republic Bank, and they don’t usually participate with SBA.  However, they did get the guidance to make the loans and they worked really hard to make sure I got it.  I signed loan docs the morning of Friday, May 1 and the money was in my account the same day.
